What is What is Lymphatic Drainage?
The Veltheim Method of Lymphatic Drainage is a different approach to lymphatic health. It is deeply relaxing and works lightly and gently on the body. The method creates a vacuum in the interstitial fluid which then helps to move the lymphatic fluid through the lymphatic system more effectively.
Movement of the lymphatic fluid is critical to the movement of nutrients to cells, and the removal of waste from the body. Fluid movement allows the lymphatic system to filter toxins, remove excess fluid, waste, debris, dead blood cells, viruses and other pathogens away from cells and out of the body.
By improving lymphatic fluid movement it also helps with the regeneration of healthy tissues in the body. It will assist the body with tissue regeneration, removing pain-inducing hormones and reducing swelling, edema and lymphedema from injuries and surgery.
Congested lymph glands over time cause circulation problems, the accumulation of unhealthy toxins in the body, puffiness under the eyes, muscle aches, chronic fatigue, spongy-looking skin, painful areas of skin, headaches, a compromised immune system leading to more frequent colds and flu, and more.
Lymphatic Drainage is a great preventative and restorative tool for your healthcare toolbox. Healthy cells and tissues rely on lymph fluids to bring them oxygen, vitamins, minerals, hormones and other important nutrients so they can perform all the vital functions the body needs to maintain great health.

What to expect?
Clients may choose to have the Veltheim Lymphatic Drainage Method performed directly on the skin, over clothes or indirectly (energetically off the body).
Clients will typically relax by lying down on a massage table (or sit on a chair if they have mobility challenges). The practitioner places their hands directly (or indirectly) on the client using gentle stroking of the skin on the chest above the breast, sternum, abdomen, side of torso and legs. Where there are injuries, personal areas or where clients are uncomfortable with being touched directly, the method is done indirectly.
How many sessions will I need?
Results vary between individuals. When the lymphatic system requires more support (i.e. surgery recovery, it is recommended that clients go for 2-5 sessions, with 1-2 weeks between sessions. Clients with healthy lymph will typically schedule 1-2 sessions annually to support lymphatic health. Results will vary between clients and may be experienced immediately or over a number of sessions.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are 60 minutes in length.
Most people feel relaxed, rejuvenated and will usually see some reduced swelling or changes in their body even after their first session. Some clients will observe dramatic changes (i.e. reduced water retention, shifts with lumps and cysts).
This method can be used in conjunction with Rehabilitation work to restore natural movement to restricted connective tissue and muscles around joints.
